Bhel is the largest engineering and manufacturing enterprise in India in the energy related/infrastructure sector today. With 180 products under 30 major product heads, BHEL caters to the core sector of Indian economy, viz., power generation and transmission, industry, transportation, telecommunication, renewable energy, defence, etc.
Fans are among the boiler auxiliaries manufactured by BHEL. This fan is a turbo machine, which delivers a particular amount volume with specified pressure of gases/air.
The pressure ratio between the fan outlet and inlet is in the range of 1.2. During fan impeller rotation, energy transformation, i.e., conversion of mechanical energy to useful pressure energy takes place.
The fans are classified as radial and axial fans based on the direction of fluid flow through the impeller.
Depending on the direction of blade swept, radial fans are classified into backward curved, forward curved and radial tip blades. Similarly, axial fans and classified into axial impulse and axial reaction fans.
BHEL has a wide range of design of these fans to cater up to volume flow of 700 cu. m/s and pressure rise up to 2500 mmWC.
BHEL has complete facility right from design, manufacture, supply, erection and commissioning apart from trouble shooting and retrofitting of fans. BHEL has supplied more than 2900 fans of large capacity for thermal power plants, steel, cement, petrochemicals and refinery industries.
